Creation Eats Creator
by: 5K HD
The Austrian indie-pop band 5K HD has centered their sound around a glossy and maximalist silver of indie-pop and has been leaning deeper into glitchy undertones with each release. However, their latest release, Creation Eats Creator (Acoustic Versions), leaps away from the electronica sphere with warmer acoustic renditions of their previous songs.
Unlike most acoustic compilations, every track on Creation Eats Creator stands on its own in the acoustic sphere. The re-recordings aren't just stripped-down versions: baroque and jazzy instrumentation fill each song in the same maximalist way as its predecessor. In this toned down context, Mira Lu Kovacs' vocals are now given a chance to pop at the listener, and it provides each band member with the opportunity to flex their instrumental skills properly. Everything on the record feels like it belongs, and no one element overstays its welcome, making it a contender for 5K HD's strongest release to date.
