Episodic Buffer Vol.2

Alex Epton, previously known as XXXChange, is an in-house producer for XL Records from Brooklyn who worked with and made remixes for artists like FKA Twigs, Björk, Panda Bear, and more. With his latest EP, Episodic Buffer Vol.2, Epton doesn't hesitate to put his analog synth sound design on full display with a selection of ambient and energetic cuts.

Partially intended as a soundtrack for a surreal exploration game of the same name, Episodic Buffer Vol.2 is ever-dynamic, shifting back and forth through motifs of garage and ambiance. Epton's signature synthwork glues these tonal shifts and gives a sense of distinctiveness; it's in-your-face and otherworldly when it has to be, but also succeeds at being haunting when it needs to be. Spending a majority of his career shifting into the headspace of other artists sharpened Epton's sonic identity and world-building skills, and it's apparent on this EP.
